Towards Zero Impact Exploration

Pluton Resources has developed a unique exploration program to meet the cultural and environmental challenges of the Company’s Irvine Island iron ore project. The island is a rugged uninhabited Kimberley location – and a special place for the indigenous Mayala People. Set with these challenges Pluton developed a strong working partnership with the Mayala – one based on trust, mutual understanding and informed consent. The partnership gives the Mayala a significant say in how operations are conducted and provides for a level of project ownership as well as significant training and employment opportunities.

As part of this partnership the company has also developed and championed an innovative strategy which comes close to zero-impact exploration. The Low impact “platform” drilling is part of the Company’s broad commitment to sustainability.

Pluton works closely with CSIRO and Strategen environmental consultants who provide industry leading advice on our exploration programs.

Examples of our innovation include development of a low environmental impact drilling platform (UDP), fluid recirculation methods at drilling sites, research and development of hydrocarbon capture techniques and low carbon footprint exploration techniques.
